Ross’s love of photography only started after he joined a camera club – the rest is history! After what he describes as a couple of years in the ‘back benches’ he quickly cottoned on to what ‘exhibition photography’ is all about, and started to churn out award winning print after award winning print. His love of studio photography started for two reasons – “it doesn’t rain in the studio” and his lack of time/patience!

Although he enjoys landscape photography in particular, as a busy practising barrister, he rarely had the time to ‘wait for the perfect light’ and preferred to create it himself. This eventually saw him open a large commercial studio in Belfast, known as ‘Catchlight Studio’ from where he honed his skills, and ran successful studio workshops for many years.

He is regarded as an expert in photoshop, and frequently does zoom presentations to camera clubs and Federations all over the UK and Ireland. His photographic Distinctions include Master of FIAP; Master of PAGB; Fellow of the Irish Photographic Federation; and Fellow of the British Photographic Exhibitions. He holds 20 FIAP Blue Badges and is a Fotospeed Ambassador.
